12/14/2021 0 Comments May 16, 2018Four more radiation treatments to go! So what’s next? Josephine will have an MRI to determine the size of the tumor at this point and the impact of the radiation she received. We are hoping to participate in phase II clinical trial of two immunotherapy drugs, nivolumab and ipillimumab sometime in mid June.
Memorial Sloan Kettering is also offering a trial for non progressive diffuse pontine gliomas using CED, a convection-enhanced delivery to infuse through a small tube placed into the tumor in the brain. This is highly invasive and it’s the first time used in the brain stem...I am reluctant to put Josephine thru this pain in a trial setting....where the major focus appears to be the method of delivering the drugs. We believe the immunotherapy trial at Columbia University is the way to go for now as long as we see progress. While we are giving trials a chance, our main focus is a called SSIAC (super selective intra-arterial chemotherapy) this immunotherapy is performed in Monterrey Mexico where 50 kids from the USA are being treated to fight this type of tumor. There is no treatment like this one in the USA....
